1999: Final
Cut Media was founded by Dean Camara & Sam Kneiss
in their 800 sq. ft. apartment on Dale Road in Modesto, CA
with a $5000 loan from their parents.
1999/2000: FCM produces their first short documentary “Seeing
the Elephant” that wins a regional W.A.V.E. award for
Best Documentary.
2000: FCM produces
a Web/TV concept & pilot episode for The
Travel Channel in Hawaii called “E-Travelers” and
discovers Kinga Philips as its Host. Kinga has gone on to host
national cable
shows on multiple networks and made several feature film appearances.
She cuurently hosts Google Current on Current
TV.
2001: FCM Co-Produces,
Writes, and Edits a national award winning feature documentary “Crusade to Victory” about Chuck
Hayes and the Modesto Christian boy’s basketball program.
2002: FCM signs its
first major contract to help local Governments and Agencies manage
and operate their local television channels
and services in Stanislaus County. We move to our first location
at 1207 13th Street, with a full time staff of 4. FCM is still
servicing these contracts and continues to service, consult,
and
install
facilities
related to local television operations. FCM recently worked
with or is under contract with the following organizations:

- City of Patterson
- Stanislaus County

- Modesto City Schools
- California State University,
Stanislaus

2003: FCM helped
develop with Memorial Medical Center’s Cancer Services, a
nationally recognized and award winning episodic TV series “The
Cancer Report”. According to The American Cancer Society,
The Cancer Report is the only one of its kind in the US, and the
longest running TV series dedicated to the subject of Cancer.
2004: FCM begins working with NFL Films, The Oakland Raiders,
and several related companies, shooting footage for nationally broadcast television
shows about the NFL as well as video game maker EA Sports Madden Football.
2005: FCM approached The Modesto Bee to help develop exclusive
online content for the Bee’s website covering High School Football. ESPN
Radio 970 partnered on the project, to broadcast the games LIVE on the radio,
and FCM produces a 15 minute video highlight of the game available Saturday morning
on Modbee.com. The project has been very successful and is in its 3rd year of
development. FCM hopes to expand the Bee’s online coverage of sports in
Northern California in the years to come.
2006: FCM produces its first major
music video on film for Rapper Kraz, and continues to do more
work for NFL Films, including projects for HBO’s “Inside
the NFL” as well as others. FCM adds staff and grows
to 6 full time employees, 4 freelance operators, and 5 summer
interns.
2007: FCM becomes
the first, full service advertising, marketing, design, and
production house in the Central Valley, by adding Mike Daniel
to our staff and expanding to a 3000 sq ft facility in Downtown
Modesto at 11th and J Streets. FCM worked at Super Bowl XXI
in Florida, and is hired as one of three camera operators for
the first 3 episodes
of “Hard Knocks” on HBO in conjunction with NFL
Films. FCM signs a deal to finish producing and writing Francisco
Garcia’s (Sacramento Kings) Documentary “Break
Away”, and begins working on the Food Network’s “Dinner
Impossible”.
FCM is also currently putting together an investment group to develop a Web/Television
hybrid concept called “Undiscovered TV” that will help create a fair
and completive way to find talent across America, using the web and television
equally. FCM continues to add local clients in the Government sector as well,
in both consulting and management of local TV operations.
